Decorating, coloring and hiding eggs goes back to the middle ages. The Egg Hunt is a fun activity for kids, usually held the day before Easter, or on Easter morning.

Here are some user submitted ideas on how to host your own Egg Hunt!

Easter Hunts and Games
Messy Egg Roll For Kids
First, gather as many kids as you can who want to play the game. Next, give each child an egg (NOT hard boiled!) Take the kids to the top of a hill, it MUST be a cement mound that is pretty steep. (The steeper it is the funner the game gets!) Have the kids line up at the top of the hill, make sure all kids are at the same height! Have the children roll the eggs down the hill at the same time. See which egg gets to the bottom without breaking first. If the childs egg breaks they are out of the game. Also, the person's egg who gets down the hill the slowest is out, only ONE of these people can be eliminated during one roll down the hill. Keep rolling the eggs down the hill until you have three people left. Once you have those three, get two hard boiled eggs and one that is not hard boiled. Blind fold each child and have them pick an egg. The one with the egg that is not hard boiled wins. Give that child a reward. Also, give the two who tried a little something, too.
Thanks go to Nathan Janowicz messy idea!!

Bobbing For Eggs

The relay of 2000
The way this game is played is you write hints as to where your child(ren) and/or family members prizes are hidden. Who ever gets to you, with there prize gets an even bigger prize.

Birdseed Magic
I can't remember the story behind this idea, but on the evening before easter have your young child throw bird seed into the yard, after they go in for the night an adult can go outside and stick suckers in the yard. In the morning it looks like the bird seed grew suckers overnight.
Thanks go Jackie, mother of a two year old for this idea!

Painted Eggs
Take 5-7 eggs paint them if you want then hide then and try to find them

Teenagers Egg Hunt
At our house we have a bunch of TEENAGE BOYS! So, after we have had a lot of fun hiding and finding the eggs, we have an Easter Egg Fight! We crack the egg shells but leave the egg intact. Stand on opposite sides of the yard. On the count of three, throw them at your opposing team! You talk about fun! Have you ever been hit with a hard boiled egg?? Try it sometime!

Easter Egg Race
First you need to gather your things. you will need a spoon , raw eggs , and pillow caces. Go in the pillow caces, then take the spoon and put the spoon from the handle side and on the other side put the raw egg. make a start line and a finish line. tell the to race to the finish line. and there you have it!!!!

Easter Egg Crack
Everyone comes with a dozen hard boiled and decorated eggs. To play, everyone pairs off. One person holds their egg in their hand and keeps their hand still. The other person uses their egg to hit the other egg. Whoever's egg didn't break gets to keep both eggs. Everyone should switch partners constantly (this also makes it easy to play if you have an odd number of people.). By the end, there are usually two "master" egg crackers in a show down that everyone watches. When all the eggs have been cracked, the person who won the most eggs gets a prize.
