Columbus Day

Definition: Latin Americans and Hispanics celebrate October 12 as the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's discovery of the New World.

In the Latino and Hispanic communities it is known as Dia de la Raza and is observed on October 12.

The Spanish name means Day of the Race and is a time to remember how the Spanish race, as in people, influenced the world.
