Sun Nin - Chinese New Year

Definition: Chinese New Year is actually two celebrations. New Years' and a birthday. According to Chinese tradition, everyone's birthday is celebrated on New Year's Day.

The Chinese calendar is lunisolar so it is based on the cycles of both the sun and the moon. The New Year is celebrated between January 21 and February 20.

The holiday starts on the first day of the second new moon after the winter solstice.
