Yom Kippur

Definition: Celebrated ten days after Rosh Hashanah, in September or October.

The final day of the Jewish High Holy Days. Also known as the Day of Atonement. Jewish people believe when you atone for your mistakes or wrongs you can be at one with God.

Yom Kippur is the most solemn of all the High Holy Days, and the most important of all the holy days on the Jewish calendar.

Jewish people do not work on Yom Kippur and fast from sunrise to sunset.
