Dover Publications Introduces Fun New Series for Kids

My First Human Body Book

** Four new series will help children color and cook, doodle, have fashionable fun, and more

Mineola, New York, 2/2009 — Dover Publications, Inc. (www.doverpublications.com), the 67-year-old niche publisher of fine-quality and low-priced paperback books is pleased to announce the launch of four new Children's Books series.

"We published our first Children's Book in 1960, a beautiful paperback edition of L. Frank Baum's classic, The Wizard of Oz," recalls Dover's President Chris Kuppig. "Our latest series are perfect for a whole new generation of youngsters."

Color & Cook Books follow the culinary adventures of Molly and Jack as they create a variety of foods and snacks in their kitchen. "I like to think that these new releases are the tastiest coloring books around," says Diane Teitel Rubins, Manager of New Product Innovation. "Kids can color the pretty pictures and — with the help of their parents — try their hands at the easy recipes included."

"I'm also very excited about our new Fashionable Fun sets," Ms. Rubins continues. "Young girls are very fashion conscious and these great releases are the fun way to draw today's hottest styles. Each release includes two books: a step-by-step drawing guide and a sketchpad. Plus, the books even come in a cool portfolio."

"Doodle books are very hot," states Dover's Children's Publishing Manager Jason Schneider. "So, it's a good time to kick off our What to Doodle series. The lowest-priced doodle books available, these titles are a great way to spark a child's creativity. Each release features 64 unfinished illustrations — how they are completed are up to each little artist's imagination."

Everyone at Dover is also impressed by My First Human Body Book. "This stand-alone title will help children learn how their bodies work," says Mr. Kuppig. "Twenty-eight instructive illustrations explore the muscular, skeletal, nervous, digestive, respiratory, and immune systems, and answer such questions as `What is a hiccup?' and `Where is my DNA?'"

Dover is making a major commitment to all of these new releases and will be featuring them in over 44,000,000 emails and catalogs sent to consumers yearly. Extensive promotions will also be aimed at the trade market as well.

  • Color & Cook Cupcakes will be released in April '09; Color & Cook Pizza will be available in June '09
  • Fashionable Fun How to Draw Cool & Casual Fashions will be released July '09; Fashionable Fun How to Draw Party & Prom Fashions will be available in June '09
