Entertaining and Environmental
While celebrating the environment through music, the 2007 EarthFest is also committed to being environmentally sound and providing information about environmental issues to all attendees.
Both WBOS and the EarthFest event are carbon-neutral. The radio station is committed to purchasing carbon credits to offset energy output and neutralize the effect of greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.
In addition, WBOS is working with a host of environmental organizations to ensure the event has little impact on the environment, including:
- Reverb, a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by environmentalist, Lauren Sullivan and her musician husband, Guster guitarist/vocalist Adam Gardner. Reverb “greens” artists tours while raising awareness and support for the environment through an interactive Eco-Village.
- Save That Stuff, a company that sees recycling as a way of life, will be implementing a host of recycling programs onsite, including setting up a zero-waste zone backstage.
More than 100 booths onsite will offer education displays, exhibits and food sampling. The booths will be staffed by event sponsors and local environmental and non-profit organizations.
Musical performances on the main stage will begin at 11:30 a.m. WBOS recommends festival goers take the MBTA to the Hatch Shell. Take the Green Line to Arlington Street or take the Red Line to Charles Street / MGH. For more details, visit the MBTA website
