Electricity Kit

(Providence, RI - February 12, 2012) - Thames & Kosmos announced today the addition of a new kit to its growing line of Electrical Science kits. Electricity & Magnetism takes snap-together circuits to the next level by incorporating experiments with magnetism. The unique building blocks make it safe and easy to explore electrical current, magnetic fields, and the essential relationship between these two fundamental properties. This kit, along with all 18 of Thames & Kosmos' new science kits, will be officially unveiled at the American International Toy Fair, Booth #1637, February 12th-15th in New York City.

Electricity & Magnetism investigates the force of electromagnetism with more than 60 electrifying experiments with circuits and magnetic components. Young experimenters can build series and parallel circuits to light up a light bulb, experiment with push buttons and on-off switches, and assemble circuits that include a spinning motor, two switches, and up to three light bulbs. They can conduct tests to see which materials are magnetic, learn about the force of magnetism and magnetic poles, magnetize a metal, and use iron fillings to make invisible magnetic fields visible.

Kids can investigate magnetic force and direction with a magnetic pendulum device, learn how a compass works and about Earth's magnetic fields, and conduct a series of experiments with a sturdy electromagnet. Finally, they can put everything they have learned to good use by constructing a loudspeaker, an electromagnetic relay switch, and a morse code telegraph key. Includes a 64-page, full-color manual with easy-to-follow assembly diagrams. Ages: 8+; SRP: $44.95

The other two science kits in the Electrical Science line are Electronics: Learning Circuits and Motors & Generators. These kits use the same snap-together electrical building system found in Electricity & Magnetism.
