Doodle Dream Day Contest
Pillsbury Toaster Strudels is launching a nationwide doodle contest!
Minneapolis, MN – July 8, 2005 – Are you an aspiring artist or a doodling diva? Here is your chance to have turn those daily doodles into a Doodle Dream Day! Pillsbury® Toaster Strudel™ Pastries is launching a nationwide contest to inspire children to be creative and express themselves, while they have fun drawing and doodling online. Kids ages 8 through 12 can visit Strudeldoodle.com to create and submit their own unique doodles for the chance to win the “Doodle Dream Day” grand prize. This dream day in New York City includes the opportunity to meet Brett Helquist, the illustrator of A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Helquist will share doodling and drawing tips and tools with the winner. In addition to the trip to New York for the child and a parent, the grand-prize winner will also win $5,000. One first-place winner will receive $3,000, and twenty-five Distinguished Doodlers will receive a ‘Daydreams and Doodles’ journal and a doodling tool art kit. “When I was a kid, I loved to daydream about being a pirate and doodle maps and drawings on anything I could,” said Helquist, who has also created other kid-friendly artwork. “I think that doodling is a great way to be creative and let your mind wander freely.” “We see creativity everywhere…even on the breakfast plate. In fact, parents tell us they – and their children – enjoy the ability to be creative with the icing on their Toaster Strudel pastries,” said Hugh Williams, Marketing Manager, Pillsbury frozen breakfast. “This type of fun and creativity was the inspiration behind our new Strudel Doodler website and the Doodle Dream Day contest. We’ve even made it more fun to top a Toaster Strudel by providing 25 percent more icing.” Kids visiting the website can also create practice doodles and submit them for posting to an online gallery, which will feature celebrity doodles as well. The Doodle Dream Day contest runs through October 31, 2005. Only one entry per person may be submitted for the contest and children must have approval of a parent or guardian to enter. After a child creates a doodle online for the contest, an approval form will appear on the screen to download/print in order to provide contact information and approve the entry. The child will be asked to answer two questions to describe their doodle and tell why they enjoy doodling. Then the finished entry will be printed and submitted by the parent via fax or mail. For full details of the contest, log on to Strudeldoodle.com. Pillsbury Toaster Strudel Pastries are among the variety of frozen breakfast products available from Pillsbury. For a limited time only, selected flavors of Toaster Strudel will have 25 percent more icing without any additional calories.
